This page
should answer just about any question you might have regarding Keynotes
Education worksheets and other products. These FAQ's are designed primarily
for new or prospective customers. If you cannot find your question
answered here please contact us.
Do the worksheets work on any computer?
Yes. Any
PC or Mac computer will be fine. A PC should have Windows 95 or higher
with a minimum of 56MB Ram. A Mac should have OS 9 or OS X with
a minimum of 128MB Ram. Even older computers will be OK as long as they have Acrobat Reader installed.
What
program do I use to view and print the resources?
Acrobat Reader
5, 6 or 7. This
program is FREE and comes in versions for both PC and Mac. Download
it FREE from here.
Can
I print the worksheets on any printer?
Yes. Any
home or commercial inkjet or laser printer will print the worksheets.
One point to remember is that some of the files are quite large so you
might find it best to print smaller sections at a time if your printer
runs out of memory or has an error message. This can sometimes happen
with laser printers. If all else fails just try to print the one sheet
the printer stops on and then continue to print the rest of the file.
Are
the worksheets free to use?
Yes. Any
of the FREE downloadable worksheets are free to use at any school. The
complete volumes are free to be used anywhere within the purchasing establishment
or by the individual who paid for the goods.
Can
I open the .zip files I download from the store on a Mac as well as a
PC?
Yes. A
.zip file is not just for use on a PC and any .zip file can be opened
by Stuffit Expander on any Mac or iMAc.
What
program do I need to open .zip files?
Stuffit Expander.
Both
PC and Mac can use this program to open the .zip files. Download
it FREE from here. WinZip can also be used to unzip/unstuff the downloaded
files on a PC. The latest version of this can be found FREE at http://www.tucows.com
I
already have Acrobat Reader 3 or 4 - can I use it?
No. Acrobat
Reader 3 or 4 is too old for our worksheets. Completely remove it from your
computer and install Acrobat Reader 5, 6 or 7. To remove it from your
PC run the Uninstall program and then do a find file or search for "Acrobat"
to find any left over files. There are usually some! Drag these to the
recycle bin/trash and empty it! Now you can safely install a newer version.
Why
can't I see the pictures properly on screen?
This
will be because you still have Adobe Acrobat Reader 3 or 4 (or traces of it)
left on your computer. Follow the points from the question above to rectify
this.
Are
any of the worksheets in color?
Some. BUT
not too many! We have intentionally kept most of the worksheets, factsheets
and flashcards primarily to black and white so that they can be reproduced
/ photocopied easily and cheaply. The editable certificates are in colour
as are any photo pack files. Remember, you can display the colour photos on a computer or an interactive whiteboard to save ink.
Can
I put the files on the school network?
Yes. As
long as the school purchased the files you may put them on the network.
If you as an individual purchased the files they should not be put on
any network, (unless you were reimbursed by the school). Teachers who
purchased the files themselves and who teach part-time at different schools
can use the worksheets in all of the schools but must keep the computer
files on their own machine.
Can
I give the files to another teacher?
No. Not
unless they were the free worksheets which anyone could download. Of course,
if a school purchases any complete volumes you may put the files on any computer within the school.
Can
I copy / reproduce the sheets year after year?
Yes. Use
them as many times as you like!.
Why
are there UK and USA versions of the same volume?
Different
spelling and terms. Some
words, such as color and colour, have different spellings. If there are
multiple instances of these words in a volume we have created two different
files for ease of use. Also, some music theory terms are different - e.g.
quarter note and crotchet so we have created two files with the different
terms. Music flashcards have both terms on them and you can decide which
to use.
Can
I buy the worksheets on CD-Rom?
Yes. If
you are a school within the UK we accept purchase orders in GBP£. The
prices in GBP£ can be found on the page titled "In the UK?". Any orders
received this way will have the volumes delivered on CD-Rom. Also any
individual UK teacher may pay by cheque in GBP£ and have their order
on CD-Rom.
Why
are the prices in US$ in the webstore?
We
feel that US$ is the most accepted currency on the internet. This is especially
true for international schools and teachers as we do not accept purchase
orders in foreign currency. However, when you get to the checkout section
of the site you do have the option to change the currency you pay in.
So it is here you can select, for example, British Pounds £.
Can
I see the prices in GBP£ or other currencies?
When
you go to the checkout section of the site you have the option to change
the currency you pay in before you pay. So it is here you can select,
for example, British Pounds £.
I
have paid online so where are my passwords?
After completing your payment you will receive a link for each volume
you have purchased in your confirmation e-mail. Click on these product
links to receive your PASSWORD(s). Keep the password(s) safe at all times
as you will need them each time you open the volume(s).
Please note you must click on the link within 48 hours of payment. If
you fail to do this it will expire and you will have to e-mail us to send
it to you.
What
do I do if I can't open a file?
If
you try to open a file by double clicking on the icon and it says it can't
be opened for any reason try this.... Open the program first, be it WinZip,
Stuffit Expander or Acrobat Reader, then go the file menu and select OPEN
and try opening the file from there. 99% of the time this works like a
treat! If all else fails contact us!
